Traditional Worship

Untitled Page

Sunday worship services combine traditional liturgy, scripture based messages, traditional hymns, choir music and prayer. Congregational hymn singing, prayers and responsive prayers/readings are a vital part of the experience. The chancel choir led by Christy Tyler contributes a special message in song. A Nursery is provided for the Sunday service. Old testament, epistle and gospel scriptures are read each Sunday. The message by Pastor Smith brings the scriptures alive and makes the Word relative to current lives. Personal, congregational, community, national and world joys and concerns are lifted up during prayer. All this combines to bring the worshipper closer to God.

The Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) is usually observed on the first Sunday of each month and on special days such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve (consult our calendar to confirm communion dates). In the United Methodist tradition, all are welcome to join us for this special event. We believe that it is the central celebration of the Christian faith as a remembrance of Jesus' sacrificial death and glorious resurrection. It is a celebration of God's covenant of forgiveness, love and hope as well as a reminder of God's presence among us. When we participate in the Lord's Supper, we experience a living encounter with God.
